As I sit and assess my situation as it stands, and look forward to the year ahead of me, as well as the years beyond this, I begin to map out a long-term goal for me to work towards. This is giving me that extra incentive to work harder for what I want to achieve.

I wanted to share a little about myself, and where I see myself in a year from now, maybe even 5 or 10 years down the line. Its always good to have a plan, and I am certainly one for making plans that change constantly with each passing day, but my overall goal always seems to remain the same, so its worth noting I think

Upon watching ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ yesterday, with a few references to how you should enjoy life to the full etc, it got me thinking – as films like this always do – to what I really want from life. I know I have always had a desire to travel, and travelling is what I enjoy most in my life at the moment. I also like writing, hence this site, as well as my other site – Round The World Trip – dedicated to my travels. It would be ideal if I could combine the two to be a travel writer, but this is also the dream of many others, and to succeed would be a monumental struggle.

I have had an idea for a while now to run a charity site, or a site such as my travel site, where I can raise money with the help of my readers, and put the money towards building a school for children in poorer countries. The money could also be used for other similar projects to help the developing world. I stumbled across a community of bloggers with exactly this intention, and last year they raised enough money to build a school in Africa. The whole project looked so much fun, and was a great way for people to meet like-minded people, and a great way to share the lives of those much less fortunate than ourselves. It looked like just the sort of life I wanted for myself, but I know I have to spend a while building all of this, but its something I know I can work towards.

I have also read other blogger’s sites detailing their day to day lives, driving from here to there in a camping van, stopping at numerous countries along the way, working when they need to, but seeing as much of the world as they are able to fit in. This sounds like so much fun, and I would love to be able to have the opportunity to do this. If I could find some way to combine all these elements, then I would have the ideal life. I shall just have to keep my head down and work hard towards achieving these dreams, and one day, I’m sure, they will become a reality.
